Thanksgiving 2018

We enjoyed Thanksgiving here at home with some friends — Dave and Corrine Salisbury, Joe and Rhonda Reincut (not sure about spelling), and their friend Pearl Beach. We fixed the turkey, a sweet potato casserole with cranberries, mashed potatoes, gravy, and a fruit punch. The Salisburys provided rolls and a salad. The Reincuts brought dessert, and Pearl brought a salad and roasted nuts. Needless to say, I over-ate, but it was very nice to spend the afternoon with friends that we’ve made here in Albuquerque.

The house we’re in is pretty large, but not terribly well laid out. It’s a little bit like our original home in Hartville in that there’s no dining room, but a nice-sized kitchen instead, with a large dining table.  The table here can seat 8, but space isn’t adequate in the kitchen if you have that many people. So we decided to move the table into the living room which never gets used otherwise. It’s not a bad arrangement except for the poor lighting. It’s also not generally a good idea to eat in a carpeted room.

I sent Thanksgiving greetings to my four children, 3 of whom responded. I also received messages from Ginger and Jason (wasn’t expecting that). He texted that he loved me and was remembering some of the good times we had as Big Brother/Little Brother during the late ’70’s and early ’80’s. He sent me this photo:

He wants to get together this Summer – possibly meeting up at Disneyland (which is reminiscent of our 1983 trip in my little red GMC S15 pickup truck that didn’t have air conditioning). Not sure how to make that happen, but it’s really nice that he has such fond memories of our times together.
